Extended Reality (XR), encompassing Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), introduces profound ethical questions about identity, physical and psychological integrity, and the broader challenges of digital technology. XR prompts us to explore the human condition, design conscious and inclusive experiences, and establish ethical frameworks to guide its development. A special Living Room Session by the House of Beautiful Business, in partnership with IEEE, brought together journalist and podcast host Kent Bye; Monique Morrow, co-founder of Humanized Internet; and tech ethicist Mathana to address these issues. Hosted by Monika Jiang, Tim Leberecht, and John C. Havens, executive director of IEEE's Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems initiative, the session explored the ethical imperatives shaping XR.
